Moving from hosted Sheet / AI to Expense Sorted Local
Thank you for using Expense Sorted. We're shifting the product path to private, on-your-machine tracking — without throwing away what already works for free.
What's ending
The hosted classify / paid Sheet AI product path and the Google Sheets add-on as a product are deprecated and sunsetting. We plan a soft sunset around 22 October 2026 for remaining hosted surfaces.
That does not mean every cloud endpoint is offline today — some hosted services may still respond while we wind them down. Treat them as deprecated: build new workflows on Local.
What continues
- Free Google Sheet template — still a valid way to start. Download stays free.
- Expense Sorted Local — Free forever for core tracking (import, query, export, summarize, rules-based categorize, MCP), plus Local Pro at $49 lifetime for local NN, embeddings, and semantic search.
- Desktop app, CLI (
es), and MCP tools for AI agents on your machine.
Your rights if you already paid
Eligible past paid plans receive a complimentary Local Pro license (check your email / contact support if missing).
Eligibility includes:
- Sheets Pro / Sheet plan
- AI lifetime
- Active AI monthly
No shame in having used Sheets or cloud AI — those products served you well. Local is the next chapter with the same job: categorize and understand spending, on your hardware.
How to activate Local Pro
- Install from the Local product page (desktop) or follow get started for CLI / MCP.
- Desktop: Settings → License, then paste your key.
- CLI: run

FAQ
Where does my data live?
In a local SQLite database on your computer. Local product flows do not upload statements to Expense Sorted for cloud storage or cloud AI categorize. You can back up or move the file anytime.
What about refunds?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on purchases. Email [email protected] with your purchase details and we'll help.
What does "all local" mean?
Tracking, rules-based categorize, query, export, and MCP against your local DB work on your machine. Local Pro adds on-device NN categorize, embeddings, and semantic search. Network is not required to keep using your data (some optional features like live prices or updates may need the internet).
Does the free Sheet template still work?
Yes. The free Google Sheet template remains a valid free start. When you want a real local database and agent tools, move to Expense Sorted Local.
I paid before — where is my license?
Check the email you used when you purchased. If you can't find a Local Pro key, contact support — eligible past paid plans receive a complimentary Local Pro license.
